Antineoplaston therapy is an alternative cancer treatment developed by Stanislaw Burzynski, MD based on a combination of peptides and amino acid derivatives. According to its founder, the active ingredient in Antineoplaston therapy isphenylacetylglutamine, a common metabolite. He asserts that the therapy works to activate cancer-suppressing genes, while simultaneously de-activate genes which allow cancer to flourish. Unique to current standard cancer treatment, it claims no adverse effects such as nerve, organ and immunological damage.
